About KYB

KYB for Porsche

For almost a century KYB has specialised in hydraulics, with technology widely used in the automotive shock absorber industry. KYB is Japan’s leading hydraulics company and KYB Europe is based in Dusseldorf, Germany. It has 10 branches, providing Porsche sales and support across Europe and north Africa

Choosing the Right Fit for Your Porsche

Where KYB is listed for Porsche, use the supplied model coverage and OE references to confirm suitability. Check details that commonly affect fitment such as model year, side/position, and connector type where relevant.

  • Typical reasons to choose KYB include restoring factory-like ride, improving control over bumps, and replacing leaking or weak shocks on daily-driven Porsches.
  • Common symptoms that suggest damper or suspension wear include oil leaks, knocking noises, excessive bounce, poor body control, and uneven tyre wear.
  • Suspension noises or poor behaviour can also involve top mounts, springs, bushes, or alignment settings, so a full inspection is recommended.
  • Replace dampers and most suspension components in pairs per axle and plan for a wheel alignment after significant work.
  • When refreshing dampers, it is often wise to renew top mounts, bump stops, and dust boots at the same time to avoid repeat labour.
  • During any suspension work, inspect surrounding components such as springs and bushes so the car feels tight and consistent once reassembled.

Browse by Category

If you already know the area you are working on, start with the category and then filter by Porsche model. Where real-world symptoms and typical reasons to replace are provided, use them to keep the wording grounded.

Suspension & Axle — Suspension and axle parts are replaced to restore handling, ride comfort, braking stability, and safety on your Porsche. Replacement is usually driven by age, wear, or specific issues such as knocking, poor stability, or uneven tyre wear.

  • Check for play, noise, and leaking components before ordering parts, and plan for alignment after major suspension work.
  • Avoid replacing parts blindly; confirm whether the fault lies with bushes, ball joints, dampers, or mounts.

Shock Absorber Parts REAR — Rear shock absorber parts such as mounts, bump stops, dust covers, and hardware help your Porsche’s rear dampers operate quietly and correctly, reducing harsh impacts and supporting long-term damper life.

  • If you are fitting new rear shocks, consider new mounts and hardware at the same time to prevent future knocks or rattles.
  • Rear knocking is often caused by mounts, links, or bushes rather than the damper itself, so diagnose carefully.

Suspension Upgrades — Suspension upgrades are chosen to improve body control, cornering balance, and steering response, or to tailor your Porsche for comfort, fast road use, or track days.

  • Define your goal (comfort versus response) before choosing components so springs, dampers, and geometry all work together.
  • Plan for proper alignment and, where appropriate, corner weighting after upgrades to get the full benefit.

Lowering Springs — Lowering springs are typically chosen to reduce ride height, sharpen steering response, and reduce body roll on Porsche models, while also changing the car’s stance.

  • Always check compatibility with your specific Porsche model and consider whether shorter or matched dampers are required.
  • Lowering almost always alters alignment, so schedule geometry correction to avoid uneven tyre wear or instability.

KYB Suspension — KYB suspension parts are usually selected as replacement dampers to restore ride control and comfort, giving your Porsche a predictable, stable feel when original dampers are tired.

  • Replace KYB dampers in pairs per axle for consistent behaviour left to right, and renew bump stops and dust boots where needed.
  • If noise or poor behaviour persists after fitting new dampers, investigate mounts, drop links, and bushes as likely causes.

Tiptronic / automatic transmission
For vehicles without sports suspension
Porsche Boxster (986) 2.5L 1996-99
Porsche Boxster (986) 2.7L 1999-04

Please Note:
The springs are priced / boxed individually.

Role of coil spring:
• Support the vehicles weight and absorb the impact of the road condition
• Increase the life of the shock absorber and other suspension components including tyres
• Together with shock absorbers they make up the vehicles suspension system which keeps the tyres in contact with the road.

Why change Coil Springs?:
• To return the vehicle to the correct ride height
• To maintain tyre contact with the road surface
• To improve road handling
• To improve wheel alignment
• To save money by increasing shock absorber life

When should Coil Springs be changed?
• When broken – always replace in axle pairs
• When fatigued (sagging) – always replace in axle pairs
• Shock absorbers should also be replaced at the same time – always replace in axle pairs.

SPECIFICATION:
• Hot & Cold coiling technology
• Manufactured to ISO 9001 standards
• Shot-peening significantly increases the fatigue life of the spring
• Surface preparation and coating ensures excellent corrosion resistance
• Side load technology (banana springs) available
• Full range of OE design taper wire miniblock technology available (RJ Series). Alternatively, a competitively priced aftermarket constant wire design is available (RX Series)
