About Laser

Laser for Porsche

We offer a full range of traditional high quality hand tools but we are also well known for our ever increasing range of special tools designed to make easy work of difficult and awkward jobs. These tools are the result of feedback from the sharp end of the automotive industry - the actual technicians working on today's motor cars. When a problem is identified on specific vehicles our engineers devise a solution that is both cost effective as well as making the job easier for the technician - usually meaning that the work can be carried out on the Porsche in situ - rather than removing sub-assemblies and then removing and replacing the faulty component on the workshop bench

A Quick Look at Laser

Laser information on this page is based on details supplied by the manufacturer or distributor, plus any OE references provided with the parts

Choosing the Right Fit for Your Porsche

Where Laser is listed for Porsche, use the supplied model coverage and OE references to confirm suitability. Check details that commonly affect fitment such as model year, side/position, and connector type where relevant.

  • Typical reasons people choose these tools include avoiding rounded fasteners, working accurately to torque/angle specifications, and making awkward Porsche jobs possible without dismantling large assemblies.
  • Common issues they help to prevent include damaged bolt heads, stripped threads, snapped fixings, and repeat work caused by using the wrong or improvised tools.
  • Before starting work, plan the job, match each tool to its specific fastener or component, and use penetrating fluid/heat and correct torque settings during reassembly.
  • Check for seized or corroded fixings in advance and replace any stretch bolts or one-time-use hardware as specified by Porsche or the tool/part manufacturer.

Browse by Category

If you already know the area you are working on, start with the category and then filter by Porsche model. Where real-world symptoms and typical reasons to replace are provided, use them to keep the wording grounded.

Engine Rebuild Parts — Engine rebuild parts are used when a Porsche engine is being stripped for diagnosis, repair, or planned overhaul; the focus is on renewing internal wear components, seals, chains, and hardware to restore reliability after issues such as low compression, heavy oil use, or internal noise.

  • Confirm the need for a rebuild with tests such as compression, leak-down, bore inspection, and oil/filter checks before ordering a full set of components.
  • Plan to replace hard-to-access chains, guides, bearings, gaskets, and fasteners while the engine is apart to avoid repeat labour later.

Intermediate shaft (IMS) — IMS parts relate to Porsche engines where the intermediate shaft and its bearing are a known concern; components and upgrade kits are chosen either as preventative maintenance or as part of repair work after metallic debris, timing faults, or oil leaks suggest wear.

  • Use oil filter and drain inspections at service time to look for metallic particles, and act quickly on any unusual noises or timing-related fault codes.
  • Where possible, combine IMS work with clutch or rear main seal jobs so that gearbox removal and labour are only done once.

IMS Tools — IMS tools allow technicians and experienced DIY owners to remove and install IMS bearings and related hardware on Porsche flat-six engines in a controlled way, protecting the crankcase, seals, and timing components compared with improvised methods.

  • Match each tool kit to the specific Porsche engine and IMS solution being used, and follow the supplied procedure carefully.
  • Always use a calibrated torque wrench and replace any specified one-time-use bolts or fasteners during reassembly.

IMS by EPS Brand — EPS-branded IMS solutions give Porsche owners a defined engineering approach to dealing with IMS concerns, with parts selected according to engine type, desired bearing concept, and installer familiarity.

  • Confirm your exact engine and IMS configuration from documentation or specialist inspection before selecting a specific EPS kit.
  • Keep detailed records of the work (parts used, mileage, and date) to support future maintenance and vehicle resale.

Engine Tuning — Engine tuning parts for Porsche are used to adjust calibration and airflow, exhaust, or forced-induction hardware, usually to improve drivability, throttle response, or performance once the underlying engine is known to be healthy.

  • Before tuning, verify engine health with checks on compression, fuelling, air leaks, sensor data, and cooling/oiling performance.
  • Use tuning to complement, not mask, mechanical repairs; resolve misfires, knock, or fueling faults before altering calibration.
