About Nordschleife

Nordschleife for Porsche

Nordschleife parts for Porsche at Design911 are typically chosen by drivers looking for fast-road and track-inspired setups, with a focus on consistency, heat management, and confidence under repeated hard use.

A Quick Look at Nordschleife

Nordschleife information on this page is based on details supplied by the manufacturer or distributor, plus any OE references provided with the parts.

Choosing the Right Fit for Your Porsche

Where Nordschleife is listed for Porsche, use the supplied model coverage and OE references to confirm suitability. Check details that commonly affect fitment such as model year, side or position on the vehicle, and connector or mounting type where relevant.

  • Typical reasons people choose Nordschleife-style parts include improving braking consistency, managing heat, and making the car feel stable and predictable during fast-road or track driving.
  • Many issues blamed on “hardware” are actually down to fluid choice, pad compound mismatch, alignment settings, or insufficient cooling and airflow.
  • Common symptoms that may prompt upgrades include brake fade, tyre overheating, vague handling, oil temperature creep, and inconsistent performance over repeated laps or hard road use.
  • Plan changes as a package where possible, as tyres, brakes, alignment, and fluids all work together in how your Porsche behaves.
  • Expect some increase in noise or firmness from more track-focused parts, and measure results (temperatures, wear, pressures) so you can adjust methodically rather than guessing.

Browse by Category

If you already know the area you are working on, start with the category and then filter by Porsche model. Where real-world symptoms and typical reasons to replace are provided, use them to keep the wording grounded.

Steering Parts — Steering components affect precision, feedback, and safety. These parts are typically replaced to remove play, restore accurate response, and tailor how direct or comfortable your Porsche feels, whether for road or track-style use.

  • After replacing steering parts, a proper alignment is essential, and it is often sensible to replace related components in pairs and have a specialist check for suspension bush wear that can mimic steering faults.

Steering Racks — The steering rack is central to directional control and steering feel. Replacement or upgrade is usually driven by internal wear, leaks, or excess play, with choices between original-style, remanufactured, or performance-focused options.

  • Where a rack is changed, many workshops recommend new track rods if worn, and it is good practice to flush the system and refill with the correct fluid to protect the pump and seals.

Suspension & Axle — Suspension and axle parts control ride quality, grip, and stability. They are replaced to cure knocks, wandering, uneven tyre wear, and to restore the balanced handling and braking stability Porsche cars are known for.

  • Suspension work often requires alignment afterwards; replacing parts in pairs and starting with a clear diagnosis of play and wear helps avoid chasing noises or handling issues.

Drop Links & Bushes REAR — Rear anti-roll bar links and bushes help control body roll and rear-end stability. Replacing tired components reduces knocking, improves composure in corners, and keeps the rear of the car feeling connected and predictable.

  • It is common to change both sides together and to inspect anti-roll bar bushes and shock mounts at the same time, as several minor wear points can combine to create similar noises.

Suspension Upgrades — Suspension upgrades are used to fine-tune body control, roll stiffness, and response for your chosen use, from fast-road driving to track days. Brand and specification are usually selected based on desired ride height, firmness, and adjustability.

  • Upgrades only deliver benefits when matched to the car and set up correctly, so plan for geometry and possibly corner-weighting, and decide in advance whether your priority is comfort, mixed use, or maximum response.

We strongly recommend replacing the power steering pump at the same time as the steering rack. Swarf (metal particles) in the power steering system can circulate and cause damage to both components. If you choose to replace only the steering rack and, upon return of your exchange unit, we discover that the rack bar is scored or contaminated with swarf, this indicates that debris is present in the system. In such cases, we advise replacing the pump as well.
Please note: if we have advised that there is swarf in the system and you choose not to replace both components, any future warranty claims related to this issue will not be valid.

The most common power steering faults are:
- Leaking power steering
- Torn Gators
- Hard to steering when idling
- Hard to steering one-way
- Steering-Wheel not self-centering
- Noise when Idling
- Noise when steering
- Judders when steering
- Loss of all power in steering
- Semi-Loss of power in steering
- Electric steering problems

Above are just some of the problems our customers are faced with on a day-to-day basis with their power steering units.
Subject to Inspection. There may be water damage then the rack cannot be refurbished. The lead time of 15 working days from when we receive the rack.

Front air suspension shock absorbers, SET OF 2.
The Nordschleife front air suspension strut pair (left + right) is a complete replacement front-axle suspension solution for the Panamera 970.1 models equipped with factory air suspension.

This set includes:
1x 97034305123 - Nordschleife Front left air suspension strut
1x 97034305223 - Nordschleife Front right air suspension strut

Fits:
Cars with Air Suspension
Porsche 970.1 Panamera  2010 - 2013

With direct-fit air springs and dampers built to original specification, this pair restores factory ride height, delivers smooth, controlled comfort and brings back dynamic handling - giving your 970 the ride quality it deserves.

Air suspension struts degrade over time: air-spring bladders can leak, internal seals and dampers wear, or valves malfunction. Common symptoms include sagging front end, uneven ride height, harsh or bouncy ride, poor handling, and warning lights on air-suspension control systems. Replacing both front struts at once - rather than just one - ensures symmetric suspension behavior, eliminates front-end lean, preserves alignment, and restores consistent performance across both wheels. This is especially important after high-mileage use, when replacing only one strut may lead to mismatched spring/damper rates.

When to replace:
Front suspension rides low or uneven
Noticeable sagging, bounce, or loss of ride comfort
Air-suspension warnings, leaks or loss of pressure
After compressor or valve block service, or when restoring suspension to original spec

Front air suspension shock absorber.
Restore factory-level ride quality, comfort and handling on your Panamera 970 with the OE-Match front air suspension strut. Precision-engineered to match original spec, this direct-fit replacement ensures correct ride height, smooth damping and confident road behaviour.
Sold each. We recommend replacing air springs in pairs.

Fits:
Cars with Air Suspension
Porsche 970.1 Panamera  2010 - 2013

Diagram ref no 1

Function: Air-spring provides adjustable ride height and load levelling; hydraulic damper controls suspension travel and rebound, ensuring smooth ride, stable handling and comfort under various load/road conditions.

Applications: Suitable when original front air strut shows signs of failure — leaks, sagging, uneven ride height, harsh ride, warning lights - or during suspension overhaul and maintenance.

Air-suspension struts bear the full load of the vehicle’s front axle and endure constant load cycles, temperature changes and road shock. Over time the air-spring bellows may develop leaks or lose pressure; dampers can weaken, resulting in sagging, rough ride, poor handling, or rear/front axle imbalance. On vehicles like the Panamera 970 - often carrying variable loads - a compromised strut can lead to:

Uneven ride height or front-end sagging
Harsh, bouncy or unresponsive ride quality
Reduced stability under braking or cornering
Increased wear on suspension components, tyres or bushings

Replacing the front strut ensures you restore proper suspension geometry, ride height, and damping behaviour - which improves comfort, safety and longevity of the suspension system.

Front air suspension shock absorber.
The air suspension strut is a replacement for the front (left / right) air-spring/damper unit originally fitted to Porsche Panamera 970 models with air suspension. This complete strut combines the air spring and shock absorber in a single, ready-to-install assembly engineered to replicate the original Porsche geometry, load capacity, mounting points and damping characteristics. When fitted correctly, it restores ride comfort, chassis stability, correct ride height and dynamic handling - as intended by the factory.
Sold each. We recommend replacing air springs in pairs.

Fits:
Cars with Air Suspension
Porsche 970.2 Panamera 2014 - 2016

Diagram ref no 1

Ideal for replacing leaking, sagging, worn or failed original air struts; restoring ride height after collapse; renewing suspension on high-mileage or lifted/sagging Panamera; restoring original-spec ride and handling after suspension service.

Air suspension struts carry a heavy burden - they support vehicle weight, absorb shocks, and maintain ride height and alignment. Over time and usage, they can lose air-tightness (airbag leaks), damping performance (shock wear), or structural integrity. Symptoms of a failing strut include sagging corner, bouncy ride, inconsistent ride height, poor handling, or suspension warning lights.

Replacing worn or damaged struts with the correct unit ensures:
Safe, stable ride height and posture
Smooth, controlled damping over bumps and under load
 Balanced handling and chassis control
Prevention of further suspension, linkage, or tyre wear.

When to replace:
Strut leaks air or fails to hold suspension height.
The ride becomes harsh, bouncy or inconsistent.
Suspension bottom-out or rough ride over bumps.
During general suspension overhaul, after high mileage or for restoring original ride quality.

Position on Vehicle: Rear axle — shock absorber/air spring assembly for left or right side.

Function: Supports vehicle weight, regulates ride height via air spring, absorbs road shocks via hydraulic damper — delivering a smooth, controlled ride, correct rear-axle geometry under load, and adaptive suspension comfort/performance.

Applications: Ideal when original rear air suspension struts have failed — e.g., air leaks, sagging rear, uneven ride height, harsh ride, suspension warning, or during a full rear suspension overhaul.

Rear air suspension struts carry a heavy load and endure considerable stress. Over time, common failure points include:
Air-spring bellow leaks or degradation causing sagging rear or ride-height loss
• Internal damper wear leading to harsh, bouncy ride, poor handling, or increased noise
Uneven ride height, reduced comfort, and distorted rear-axle geometry, affecting tyre wear and vehicle stability

Replacing worn or faulty struts restores:
Correct ride height and level stance
Smooth, controlled damping over bumps and load changes
Balanced suspension behaviour and consistent handling
Proper load distribution and reduced stress on other suspension components

When to replace:
Rear of the vehicle sags or sits uneven under load or when parked
Noticeable harshness, bounce, or instability over bumps or under braking
Air-suspension warning, compressor over-run, or visible air-bag damage
Full suspension overhaul or after replacing related components (compressor, valves, mounts)
