ODM
ODM for Porsche
ODM parts for Porsche models from Design911, offering straightforward replacement options to restore proper function while keeping the character of your car intact.
A Quick Look at ODM
ODM information on this page is based on details supplied by the manufacturer or distributor, plus any OE references provided with the parts.
Choosing the Right Fit for Your Porsche
Where ODM is listed for Porsche, use the supplied model coverage and OE references to confirm suitability. Check details that commonly affect fitment such as model year, side or position, and connector or attachment type where relevant.
- Typical reasons to choose these parts include restoring reliable operation, fixing age-related failures, and keeping the job simple with known, direct-replacement fitment.
- Common defects and symptoms include intermittent operation, wear-related play or noise, leaks, or premature failure if the underlying cause isn’t addressed.
- Before ordering, match your Porsche model, year, and where possible cross-reference part numbers to confirm you have the correct ODM component.
- Plan to replace related consumables such as seals, bolts, and clips where specified, as these can be critical to long-term reliability.
- Always diagnose the wider system first, as similar symptoms can come from adjacent or related components rather than the part you initially suspect.
Browse by Category
If you already know the area you are working on, start with the category and then filter by Porsche model. Where real-world symptoms and typical reasons to replace are provided, use them to keep the wording grounded.
Gearbox / Transmission — You change ODM gearbox and transmission parts when you have shifting issues, noise, leaks, or you’re refreshing a high-mileage drivetrain. It’s also common during upgrades or when converting from worn components to improved designs; correct part choice depends on manual or automatic type, quality, and correct tolerances. Typical symptoms include whining in a specific gear, crunching on shifts, difficulty selecting gears, fluid leaks, or harsh or delayed engagement on automatics.
- Don’t assume it’s always the gearbox itself—clutch, mounts, linkage, and old oil can mimic gearbox faults, so confirm the source before ordering parts.
- In many cases, changing to the correct-spec transmission oil and checking mounts and linkages is a sensible first step before major component replacement.
Driveshafts & Parts — ODM driveshafts and related parts are fitted to cure vibration, clicking CV joints, torn boots, or play that causes clunks when taking up drive. Replacement is also common when upgrading for higher torque or when corrosion has affected the shaft. Correct selection depends on whether your Porsche is rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, as well as shaft length and flange type. Typical symptoms include clicking on full lock, vibration on acceleration, and clunks as drive is taken up, often accompanied by torn boots and lost grease.
- If caught early and the joint is still smooth, replacing just a damaged boot with fresh grease can extend driveshaft life and avoid a full shaft replacement.
- After solving driveshaft issues, if vibration persists, have wheels, tyres, propshaft balance, and gearbox or differential mounts checked.
CV Joints Kits — ODM CV joint kits are used to address clicking, vibration, and play in the drivetrain where the shaft itself is serviceable but the joint or boot has failed. They are particularly useful when a boot has split and the joint has started to run dry but is not yet beyond repair. Typical symptoms include clicking or popping on turns, vibration under acceleration, clunks when taking up drive, and grease thrown around the wheel arch from split boots.
- A complete kit with joint, boot, grease, and hardware helps ensure a properly sealed repair; use the correct CV grease supplied or specified.
- When fitting CV kits, check hub nuts or bolts, shaft splines, and surrounding mounts if any vibration remains after the repair.
Suspension & Axle — ODM suspension and axle parts are chosen to restore handling, ride comfort, braking stability, and overall safety when original components have aged or worn. Owners may select parts that keep an original ride feel or opt for a slightly firmer, more controlled setup depending on use. Common issues include knocking over bumps, uneven tyre wear, wandering or vague steering, vibration, pulling under braking, sagging ride height, and clunks during acceleration or direction changes, often linked to bushes, ball joints, dampers, or mounts.
- Many suspension items are best replaced in left and right pairs to maintain balanced behaviour and predictable handling.
- Plan for a proper wheel alignment after most suspension work so your Porsche tracks straight and tyre wear remains even.
Wheel Bearings & Kits — ODM wheel bearings and bearing kits are fitted to eliminate noise and play and to ensure safe, smooth wheel rotation under load. They are typically replaced when humming or droning noises increase with road speed, noise changes when cornering, or there is detectable wheel play and, in some cases, ABS warnings. Severe wear can also contribute to uneven tyre wear and overheating around the hub.
- To pinpoint a noisy bearing, note how the sound changes when loading and unloading each side in corners, and have a workshop confirm before ordering parts.
- Where supplied, always replace associated seals and torque the hub nut or fasteners to the specified values to achieve correct bearing preload and life.

The CV joint (Constant Velocity Joint) is located at each end of the axle assembly and is most often used on front wheel drive cars. A 2wd vehicle will have 2 axles with 4 CV joints and boots. A 4wd will typically have twice as many as the 2wd. The CV joint allows the wheels of the vehicle to turn while still being able to put power to the wheels.
The most notable indicator of a worn out CV joint is the loud clicking noise you hear when you turn the steering wheel.
