What they do
Zimmermann’s R&D:z brake pads employ a special friction compound containing organic fibers, which forms a thin, protective transfer layer between the brake disc and pad during braking.

This innovative layer:

  • Improves pedal feel and stopping precision.
  • Provides high resistance of the friction coefficient across varying temperatures.
  • Minimizes abrasion and dust creation, keeping rims cleaner for longer.
  • Offers smoother, quieter operation with significantly less vibration.
  • Enhances braking comfort and heat resistance for consistent, fade-free performance.

Each braking cycle renews this friction layer, continuously maintaining optimal grip and reducing wear — ensuring every stop feels as confident as the first.

Why brake pads fail

Even advanced pads such as the Zimmermann range can deteriorate over time if not properly maintained or installed:

  • Material Wear: Friction compounds naturally thin with mileage, reducing stopping power and increasing braking distance.
  • Thermal Overload or Glazing: Heavy, repeated braking can overheat pads, hardening the surface and diminishing friction performance.
  • Uneven Disc Contact: Poor fitment or warped rotors can cause localized wear, vibrations, and noise.
  • Contamination or Corrosion: Exposure to dirt, salt, or moisture can compromise pad integrity, accelerating wear.
  • Old-Type Materials: Non-optimized compounds create excessive dark dust and noise compared with Zimmermann’s advanced dust-reduced formulation.

Why they should be replaced

  • Maintain Braking Efficiency: Replacing pads before the friction material wears out ensures maximum safety and consistent stopping distances.
  • Preserve Wheel Appearance: The Zimmermann dust-reduced compound produces lighter, brighter dust that’s nearly invisible, helping rims stay clean.
  • Enhance Driving Comfort: New pads eliminate brake squeal and vibration, restoring smooth pedal response.
  • Reduce Environmental Impact: Less abrasion means fewer particulates released into the environment — an eco-friendly braking solution.
  • Prolong Brake System Life: Lower wear rates protect both discs and calipers, saving on long-term maintenance costs.

In short, timely replacement with Zimmermann pads keeps your braking system precise, quiet, and clean — for confident, sustainable performance.

Quality
Our product range in the brake pads sector includes over 1,000 different items, covering the vast majority of vehicles currently on the road. To ensure wholesalers have rapid access to our products, we maintain a warehouse with the capacity to store more than 120,000 sets of brake pads.

Every vehicle has its own unique characteristics and therefore specific requirements for brake pads. Our products are made using up to 25 different raw materials, carefully combined to achieve the highest standards of quality, reliability, and safety. Each brake pad undergoes a rigorous 2–3 year development process, including extensive road testing. The “OE Approvals” from leading automobile manufacturers are a testament to the expertise and precision of our specialists.

Your Advantages:

  • Over 1,000 product variants
  • Large storage capacity (120,000 sets) for rapid availability
  • OE quality standards
  • OES quality Long service life Smooth and consistent braking performance
  • Complies with ECE R90 regulations
  • Excellent corrosion protection
  • Complete range from a single supplier

What they do:

  • The pads are engineered to convert kinetic energy into thermal energy by pressing against the brake disc—a controlled friction process that brings the vehicle to a stop with minimal fade and consistent feel.
  • ZIMMERMANN uses friction-material mixtures drawn from up to 25 different raw-material types, tailored to vehicle and braking system demands.
  • The result is a braking solution that boasts long lifespan, very smooth performance, and largely conforms to ECE R90 standards for defined braking behaviour and safety.
  • Comfort-oriented features—such as damping plates, directional bevels, grooves and tuned vibration-absorbing layers—help suppress noise and vibration while maintaining crisp response.

Why brake pads fail:
  • Wear-out of friction material: Over time, the pad material becomes thinner and loses its capacity to generate sufficient friction—leading to longer stopping distance and reduced effectiveness.
  • Glazing or thermal overload: When subjected to repeated heavy braking or high temperature without proper match to the disc, the pad surface can harden (glaze) or lose its ideal friction coefficient, reducing deceleration.
  • Uneven contact or mismatch: If the pad and disc aren’t perfectly paired (material mismatch, incorrect installation, warped disc) then only part of the pad surface may work, causing hotspots, uneven wear, vibration or faster failure.
  • Loss of comfort/design features: Without the built-in damping/chamfering/tuned geometry, pads may generate noise, harshness, uneven wear or premature damage—especially in compact performance systems where tolerances are tight.

Why they should be replaced:
  • Ensuring the braking system delivers its designed stopping power means you maintain safe deceleration, consistent pedal feel and proper response under emergency or repeated use.
  • Replacing before performance degrades protects other components—worn pads can harm the brake discs, calipers or result in higher repair cost.
  • Comfort and refinement are part of the product promise: the ZIMMERMANN pad set’s smooth operation and low-noise design mean you preserve vehicle refinement, not just raw performance.
  • Compliance matters: Because the pads largely conform to ECE R90, using a worn or incompatible pad may move you away from the standardised braking behaviour expected for your vehicle, especially important in high-end or performance cars.
  • The development pedigree behind the pads (2–3 years of development cycles, extensive test-miles) means the replacement component offers replacement-grade quality rather than a generic substitute.

  • Material Wear: Friction compounds naturally thin with mileage, reducing stopping power and increasing braking distance.
  • Thermal Overload or Glazing: Heavy, repeated braking can overheat pads, hardening the surface and diminishing friction performance.
  • Uneven Disc Contact: Poor fitment or warped rotors can cause localized wear, vibrations, and noise.
  • Contamination or Corrosion: Exposure to dirt, salt, or moisture can compromise pad integrity, accelerating wear.
  • Old-Type Materials: Non-optimized compounds create excessive dark dust and noise compared with Zimmermann’s advanced dust-reduced formulation.

Why they should be replaced

  • Maintain Braking Efficiency: Replacing pads before the friction material wears out ensures maximum safety and consistent stopping distances.
  • Preserve Wheel Appearance: The Zimmermann dust-reduced compound produces lighter, brighter dust that’s nearly invisible, helping rims stay clean.
  • Enhance Driving Comfort: New pads eliminate brake squeal and vibration, restoring smooth pedal response.
  • Reduce Environmental Impact: Less abrasion means fewer particulates released into the environment — an eco-friendly braking solution.
  • Prolong Brake System Life: Lower wear rates protect both discs and calipers, saving on long-term maintenance costs.

In short, timely replacement with Zimmermann pads keeps your braking system precise, quiet, and clean — for confident, sustainable performance.

What They Do

  • The Zimmermann pads are precision-engineered components designed to convert your vehicle’s motion into reliable stopping power through controlled friction between the pad and brake disc.
  • Performance-Tailored Design: Every vehicle has its own brake system characteristics, and these pads are specifically formulated to suit your car’s individual braking requirements.
  • Advanced Friction Mixtures: Up to 25 raw materials ensure balanced performance across temperature, humidity, and load variations.
  • Manufacturing Precision: Zimmermann controls temperature, pressure, and time during production to achieve consistent friction stability and pedal feel.
  • OES-Quality Assurance: The pb:z range guarantees high brake comfort, precise modulation, and superior braking efficiency under all driving conditions. Corrosion-Resistant Finish: Enhanced coating technology protects metal surfaces from rust and wear, extending overall lifespan.

In short, these pads are crafted for drivers who value long service life, smooth braking, and consistent safety at a competitive cost.

Why Brake Pads Fail
Even premium pads degrade over time due to natural wear and driving conditions.

Common causes include:

  • Friction-Material Wear: Continuous use thins the pad, reducing braking effectiveness and increasing stopping distance.
  • Thermal Overload / Glazing: Excessive heat from prolonged braking or aggressive driving hardens the pad surface, leading to fade and vibration.
  • Uneven Contact: If discs are warped or the pad fitment is imperfect, surface contact becomes inconsistent, causing hotspots and premature wear.
  • Inferior Substitutes: Non-optimized materials lack Zimmermann’s friction balance and fade resistance, resulting in noise, dust, or shorter life.
  • Contamination & Corrosion: Salt, dirt, and moisture can compromise pad integrity and performance.

Why They Should Be Replaced

  • Preserve Braking Efficiency: Fresh pads restore original stopping performance, keeping braking distances short and predictable.
  • Maintain Comfort and Quietness: The pb:z pad structure minimizes noise and vibration—worn pads remove that refinement.
  • Protect Brake Discs: Worn pads can damage rotors through metal-to-metal contact, increasing replacement costs.
  • Sustain Safety and Control: New pads maintain stable friction coefficients across heat cycles, ensuring consistent pedal feel and fade-free braking.
  • Ensure Compliance: Pads conforming to ECE R90 regulations preserve the braking behavior your vehicle was designed to deliver.

Replacing worn pads with the Zimmermann Premium Brake Pad Set ensures both optimal performance and longevity—without compromise.
