Diagram ref no 1

The drive shaft is responsible for transferring rotational force (torque) from the rear differential to the rear wheel hub. It plays a vital role in converting engine power into wheel motion, while allowing for suspension movement and changes in wheel angle thanks to its integrated constant-velocity (CV) joints. This means it helps:
Deliver smooth, consistent power to the driven wheels
Maintain traction and stability during acceleration
Accommodate wheel articulation as the vehicle navigates uneven surfaces or turns

• Minimise vibration and drivetrain shock under load.
The CV joints at each end of the shaft are precision engineered to maintain a constant velocity of drive force even as the suspension moves.

Function:
Transmits torque from the rear differential to the wheel hub assembly
Accommodates suspension and steering movement without binding
Maintains consistent and smooth power delivery
Helps preserve vehicle handling, stability, and ride comfort.

Replace the drive shaft if you notice:
Clicking or popping noises when turning
Vibration during acceleration or at speed
Grease leakage from torn CV boots
Noticeable play or looseness in the axle joint during inspection
As part of suspension/differential service where this component is exposed
