The Fabspeed Long Tube Competition Race Header System is a complete motorsport-focused exhaust upgrade developed for the Porsche 911 991.2 GT3 and GT3 RS.
Fits:
- Porsche 991.2 GT3 4.0L (500 Bhp) / GT3 RS 4.0L (520 Bhp) 2017-19
Designed for racing, track events and off-road competition use, the system combines high-flow long-tube headers with Burns Stainless merge collectors and integral side muffler bypass pipes equipped with premium Helical exhaust valves.
The system replaces the restrictive factory catalytic-converter-equipped header arrangement and provides a significantly freer-flowing exhaust route from the cylinders into the rear exhaust system.
By improving exhaust gas evacuation and managing exhaust pulses more effectively, the system is designed to improve throttle response, optimise high-RPM breathing and maximise the performance potential of Porsche's naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine.
Fabspeed develops its long-tube systems using CAD design and incremental Dynojet testing. The current manufacturer listing does not specify a fixed horsepower or torque increase for this complete system, with both figures currently shown as TBD.
What This Product Does:
The Long Tube Competition Race Header System replaces the factory exhaust manifolds, catalytic converter sections and side-muffler flow path with a high-performance race configuration.
It is designed to:
- Increase exhaust gas flow.
- Reduce exhaust restriction.
- Improve exhaust scavenging.
- Improve throttle response.
- Support stronger torque and power delivery.
- Improve high-RPM engine breathing.
- Reduce restriction from the original catalytic converters.
- Bypass the factory side mufflers when required.
- Retain active exhaust control through Helical valves.
- Produce a much more aggressive motorsport exhaust note.
- Reduce rear exhaust-system mass.
- Support additional competition engine modifications.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Competition headers experience extreme thermal and mechanical stress.
Possible symptoms include:
- Ticking noises during cold start.
- Blowing sounds under acceleration.
- Exhaust leaks.
- Soot around header flanges.
- Cracked primary tubes.
- Cracked welds.
- Damaged collectors.
- Loose slip joints.
- Metallic rattling.
- Exhaust vibration.
- Unexpected changes in exhaust sound.
- Reduced engine performance.
- Heat damage around nearby components.
Why Replacement Matters:
Replacing worn or damaged competition headers helps restore:
- Correct exhaust sealing.
- Intended scavenging characteristics.
- Smooth exhaust flow.
- Proper collector operation.
- Correct valve operation.
- Structural integrity.
- Safe containment of extremely hot exhaust gases.
- Consistent performance.
For a track-driven GT3, regular exhaust inspection should form part of preventative maintenance.
