Fabspeed Long Tube Competition Race Header System.

The Fabspeed Long Tube Competition Race Header System is a complete motorsport-focused exhaust upgrade developed for the Porsche 911 997 GT3 and GT3 RS from 2006–2009.

Fits:

  • Porsche 997 MK1 GT3 / GT3 RS 2007-09

Designed specifically for racing, track events and closed-course competition use, the system combines long-tube performance headers with Burns Stainless high-velocity merge collectors and integral side muffler bypass pipes incorporating Helical exhaust valves.

The system replaces the restrictive factory catalytic-converter-equipped header arrangement, allowing exhaust gases to travel from the cylinder heads through a significantly freer-flowing exhaust path.

By improving exhaust-gas evacuation and exhaust-pulse scavenging, the system is designed to improve throttle response, support stronger power delivery across the rev range and enhance the high-RPM character of the naturally aspirated GT3 engine.

Fabspeed developed the system through CAD design, Dynojet testing and track development, working in conjunction with Burns Stainless on the collector design.

Fabspeed currently lists:

+30 HP

Approximately 40 lb / 18.1 kg weight reduction from the rear of the vehicle

Torque gain currently listed as TBD

Actual performance will vary according to vehicle condition, engine specification, fuel, calibration, environmental conditions and accompanying modifications.

What This Product Does:
The Fabspeed Long Tube Competition Race Header System replaces the original header and catalytic-converter arrangement with a freer-flowing competition exhaust configuration.

It is designed to:

  • Increase exhaust gas flow.
  • Reduce exhaust restriction.
  • Improve cylinder scavenging.
  • Improve throttle response.
  • Support increased horsepower.
  • Improve high-RPM engine breathing.
  • Reduce weight from the rear of the vehicle.
  • Remove restriction associated with the factory catalytic converters.
  • Incorporate side muffler bypass pipes.
  • Retain controllable exhaust routing through Helical valves.
  • Produce a substantially more aggressive GT3 exhaust note.
  • Support additional competition engine modifications.

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Possible signs of header deterioration include:

  • Ticking during cold start.
  • Blowing noises under acceleration.
  • Exhaust leaks.
  • Black soot around flanges.
  • Cracked primary tubes.
  • Cracked welds.
  • Loose collector joints.
  • Damaged collectors.
  • Metallic rattling.
  • Increased exhaust vibration.
  • Unexpected changes in exhaust sound.
  • Loss of performance.
  • Heat damage around surrounding components.

Why Replacement Matters:
Replacing cracked, leaking or damaged competition headers helps restore:

  • Correct exhaust sealing.
  • Intended exhaust scavenging.
  • Smooth gas flow.
  • Proper collector operation.
  • Correct valve function.
  • Safe containment of extremely hot exhaust gases.
  • Structural integrity.
  • Consistent performance.

For vehicles used regularly on circuit, exhaust-system inspection should form part of routine maintenance.
