The Fabspeed Long Tube Race Headers are a competition-focused exhaust upgrade developed for naturally aspirated Porsche 911 GT3, GT3 RS and 911 R models of the 991 generation.
Fits:
- Porsche 991.1 GT3 3.8L (475 Bhp) 2014-16
- Porsche 991.2 GT3 4.0L (500 Bhp) 2017-19
Designed for circuit, motorsport and off-road applications, the system replaces the factory catalytic-converter-equipped headers with a carefully developed long-tube header arrangement engineered to improve exhaust scavenging, reduce restriction and maximise the breathing potential of Porsche's high-revving flat-six engine.
Fabspeed developed the system in conjunction with Burns Stainless, using motorsport-derived high-velocity merge collectors and long primary tubes to improve the way exhaust pulses leave each cylinder and combine within the exhaust system.
The headers are manufactured from T321 stainless steel, CNC mandrel bent and hand TIG welded with back-purging. T321 is particularly well suited to high-temperature motorsport exhaust applications because of its excellent resistance to repeated thermal cycling.
Fabspeed's current product listing quotes performance gains of approximately:
+19 HP
+13 lb-ft of torque
These are manufacturer-listed figures from specific testing and should not be regarded as guaranteed gains for every vehicle.
Because the system removes the original catalytic converters, it is specifically intended for closed-course competition and off-road use rather than public-road use.
What This Product Does:
The Long Tube Race Headers replace the original Porsche exhaust manifolds and catalytic-converter assemblies with a freer-flowing competition header system.
They are designed to:
- Improve exhaust gas evacuation from each cylinder.
- Reduce exhaust restriction.
- Improve exhaust pulse scavenging.
- Support increased horsepower and torque.
- Improve throttle response.
- Enhance high-RPM breathing.
- Complement the high-revving character of the GT3 engine.
- Produce a significantly more aggressive exhaust note.
- Reduce catalyst-related exhaust restriction.
- Support additional competition engine and exhaust modifications.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Race headers are exposed to severe temperature and vibration.
Possible symptoms of deterioration include:
- Ticking noises from the exhaust.
- Blowing noises during acceleration.
- Visible exhaust leaks.
- Soot around welds or flanges.
- Cracked primary tubes.
- Cracked welds.
- Damaged collectors.
- Loose slip joints.
- Increased exhaust smell.
- Metallic rattling.
- Exhaust vibration.
- Reduced performance.
- Exhaust noise changing unexpectedly.
Why Replacement Matters:
Replacing cracked or damaged headers helps restore:
- Correct exhaust sealing.
- Intended exhaust scavenging.
- Smooth exhaust flow.
- Proper collector operation.
- Safe containment of hot exhaust gases.
- Structural integrity.
- Consistent engine performance.
For track-driven cars, header condition should be checked regularly because operating temperatures and mechanical loads can be considerably greater than during normal road driving.
