Provides the critical clamping force between crankshaft flange and flywheel. Correct bolt stretch and friction are essential to prevent loosening, fretting, or flywheel run-out that can cause vibration, starter engagement issues, or clutch damage.
Over time, flywheel bolts can stretch, corrode, or lose their clamping strength due to repeated torque cycles and heat exposure. A weakened or reused bolt may fail to maintain the necessary preload, risking vibration, misalignment, or flywheel damage.
Replace the flywheel bolts when:
