This Millers Oils mineral lubricant is intended for the initial running-in stage of new or rebuilt competition engines. The 5L pack contains 10W40 oil without friction-modifying additives.
Fits
Petrol and diesel competition engines requiring a dedicated running-in lubricant.
What This Product Does
During early engine operation, the oil allows piston rings to bed against the cylinder walls while supplying lubrication to newly fitted components. Its dedicated formulation helps limit bore glazing without preventing the controlled bedding-in process.
Functions
- Allows controlled bedding of piston rings against cylinder surfaces.
- Lubricates internal components during the initial operating period.
- Provides wear protection while the rebuilt engine runs in.
Technical Details
- Viscosity grade: 10W40.
- Mineral-based, multigrade formulation.
- Container capacity: 5 litres.
- No friction modifiers.
- Intended for the running-in stage rather than ongoing competition use.
Running-In Guidance
Follow the engine builder’s procedure for load, speed and operating temperature. The supplied guidance specifies 500 miles of initial road operation, or approximately 3–4 hours on track with changes in load. Once bedding-in is complete, drain the running-in oil and refill using the recommended Millers competition oil.
Why Replacement Matters
A dedicated running-in lubricant serves a different purpose from the oil used after bedding-in. Changing to the specified competition lubricant at the end of this stage keeps subsequent operation aligned with the engine builder’s requirements.
FAQs
Can this replace normal service oil?
It is intended for initial engine running-in. Use the recommended ongoing lubricant after that procedure is complete.
Is it suitable for both fuel types?
The supplied application includes petrol and diesel competition engines that require a dedicated running-in oil.
