What This Product Does:
- The steering rack is held in place by mount bushings. These bushings absorb vibration, reduce road feedback, and help maintain correct alignment and positioning of the rack under load.
- They prevent the rack from shifting or flexing under steering torque, braking forces, or road irregularities.
- The bushings also provide damping such that minor vibration and harshness are not transferred directly into the steering column or chassis.
Symptoms Of Worn / Failing Rack Bushing:
- Looser, sloppier steering feel — play or “wandering” in the steering wheel
- Clunking or knocking sounds from the steering rack area, especially over bumps
- Uneven tire wear (front) because of slight shifts in rack position / alignment
- Vibration or harshness in the steering input, especially on rough roads
- Increased feedback or harshness from the road transmitted through the steering
- Steering misalignment or drift, as the rack is not held firmly in place
Why Replacement Matters:
- Restores Steering Precision — a good bushing reduces unwanted rack movement so steering response is sharper.
- Eliminates Noise & Play — worn mounts often are the source of rattles or looseness in the front end.
