Diagram ref no 16

Position on Vehicle: Rear axle, track rod arm / control-link connecting the axle carrier to the body or sub-frame, controlling lateral and longitudinal motion of the rear axle.

 Cross-Reference / Alternative Numbers: OE reference 981 331 045 03, replaces number 981 331 045 02

Applications: Suitable for replacement when the original link shows wear, has failed bushings/joints, produces rear suspension noise, causes misalignment or uneven tyre wear, or is being renewed as part of a rear suspension service.

The rear track rod arm is a key component in maintaining the correct geometry of the rear axle - the lateral control, alignment setting and load path all rely on it performing correctly. A failing or worn link can result in:
Unstable rear-end behaviour under cornering or load
Premature or uneven tyre wear especially on the rear axle
Noise or clunks from suspension movement under load
Inability to hold alignment settings or poor road feel

Replacing the component ensures your rear suspension remains factory-accurate, the tyres wear evenly, handling remains sharp and the car instils confidence.

When and why to replace:
You hear clunking or knocking from the rear suspension when driving over bumps or changing direction
Rear tyre wear is uneven or alignment cannot be maintained
The original link shows play in the bushings or joints or is visibly corroded or bent
During a rear suspension overhaul, axle servicing or after accident damage
On higher-mileage vehicles where original suspension links have undergone significant service life.
