What This Product Does:

This electric motor is the drive mechanism that powers the opening, closing, and tilting motions of the glass sunroof (i.e. it’s the actuator for the sunroof).
It transfers rotational force via gears or cable drives to move the sunroof panel along its tracks.
Works in concert with control switches, limit switches, wiring, and the track assembly to move the roof smoothly and stop at the end positions (fully open, fully closed, vent tilt).
Helps hold the sunroof shut through its gearing and locking mechanism when power is removed (i.e. it resists wind lift or leakage).

Symptoms / Signs Of Fault Or Failure:

The sunroof fails to open, close, or tilt
The sunroof moves very slowly or stutters
Intermittent operation (works only sometimes)
Grinding, clicking, or whining noises when attempting to move the sunroof
The sunroof might stop mid-travel or get “stuck” in open or partly open position
Electrical issues or blown fuses in the sunroof circuit
