The door hinge pin serves as the pivot point within the door hinge mechanism. It allows the door to swing open and close smoothly while supporting the weight of the door and maintaining proper alignment between the door and body. A worn or damaged hinge pin can cause: Door sag, Misalignment, Uneven shut lines, Noise or binding during movement. Installing a new hinge pin restores the correct pivot geometry and helps the door operate as intended by Porsche’s original design.
• Acts as the rotational pivot between the door and hinge bracket
• Maintains stable, consistent door movement
• Helps preserve correct door alignment and shut line
• Reduces wear on surrounding hinge components
Over decades of use, hinge pins and their mating bushings can wear, allowing the door to develop play, sag, or uneven gaps. This can make doors harder to close cleanly, lead to premature wear on latches and striker plates, and negatively impact body panel fitment and appearance.
Replace the door hinge pin if:
