Brake Disc Type: 2-Piece Slotted

The Girodisc system is a direct replacement for the OE disc. No modifications are necessary, and it allows the use of unmodified factory pads. The disc will bolt directly to the car and work with factory calipers.

The central hat section of our rotor is made from strictly U.S. sourced 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum. The disc is made from our own proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and machined from start to finish in-house at Girodisc. The rotor utilizes a curved vane design, developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc.

The rotor and hat have a floating mount system, which utilizes 12 high strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured by Girodisc in the USA to our own specifications and cadmium plated for a long lasting corrosion resistance. These pins take the load from braking actions while maintaining the axial and radial float between the hat and disc. The pins are secured by class 12.9 cap screws with hardened washers. In order to keep the rotors from making noise when cold, the pins are mounted with anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side which allow the rotor to grow with heat expansion but eliminate the rattle and noise associated with floating rotors. This float also allows the rotor to self center between the pads.

Once the Girodisc system is in place, simply replace the cast iron rotor when needed.

About Giro Slotted Brake Disc

Giro Slotted Brake Discs - High-Performance Braking Control & Heat Management

Giro slotted brake discs are engineered for enhanced braking performance, improved heat dissipation, and consistent pedal feel in both performance road and track-focused applications. Featuring precision-machined slots, these discs help clear brake gases, dust, and debris from the pad surface, maintaining optimal contact between pad and disc under demanding driving conditions.

Available from Design911, Giro slotted brake discs offer a balanced solution for drivers seeking improved braking response, reduced fade, and enhanced durability without compromising everyday drivability. Their advanced design supports confident braking during spirited road use and repeated high-load braking scenarios.

What Do Giro Slotted Brake Discs Do?

Giro slotted brake discs work alongside high-quality brake pads to deliver controlled and repeatable stopping power.

Core Functions:

  • Improve heat dissipation during heavy braking.
  • Remove brake gases and debris from the pad surface.
  • Maintain consistent pad contact and braking response.
  • Enhance wet-weather braking performance.
  • Reduce brake fade under repeated high-load use.

The slotted design ensures reliable braking performance across a wide range of driving conditions.

Why Do Brake Discs Wear or Fail?

Brake discs are subject to extreme mechanical and thermal stress over time.

Common Causes of Wear or Failure Include:

  • Thermal cycling leading to cracking or warping.
  • Surface wear from aggressive braking.
  • Heat build-up reducing braking efficiency.
  • Uneven pad deposits causing vibration or judder.
  • Extended service intervals beyond recommended limits.

As discs wear or degrade, braking consistency, pedal feel, and safety are reduced—making replacement essential.

Why Replace with Giro Slotted Brake Discs?

Upgrading to Giro slotted brake discs restores braking performance while enhancing heat management and durability.

Key Benefits:

  • Improved braking consistency and pedal feel.
  • Enhanced resistance to brake fade.
  • Better debris and gas evacuation.
  • Increased confidence during spirited and performance driving.
  • Suitable for performance road cars and track-day builds.

Replacing worn discs with Giro slotted discs ensures braking performance remains predictable and reliable under demanding conditions.

Highlights

  • Precision-machined slotted brake disc design.
  • Enhanced heat dissipation and braking stability.
  • Improved pad bite and consistent response.
  • Suitable for performance road and track use.
  • High-quality construction for long service life.
