What This Product Does
The rack changes steering-wheel rotation into sideways movement, which the tie rods transmit to the front wheels. Bellows cover the moving rack ends, helping to keep contaminants away from the protected components.
Functions
- Converts rotational steering input into linear travel.
- Transfers rack movement through the tie rods.
- Covers the rack ends with protective bellows.
Technical Details
- Supplied assembly: new steering rack, tie rods and bellows.
- Drive configuration: Right Hand Drive (RHD).
- Internal diagram references: 99334701204 and 993347012DX.
- Diagram notes for both references specify associated positions 7, 8, 9 and 10, plus pressure line 99334745804. These notes do not establish that those additional components are included.
Symptoms of Fault
- Hydraulic fluid leakage or repeated fluid loss.
- Split steering gaiters.
- Heavy steering at idle or unequal effort between directions.
- Poor steering-wheel return towards centre.
- Noise at idle or during steering.
- Judder, looseness or knocking through the wheel.
- Partial or complete loss of steering assistance.
Similar symptoms can originate in the pump, joints, bushes or suspension. Electrical steering problems require separate diagnosis rather than assuming that rack replacement will resolve them.
Why Replacement Matters
Renewing a diagnosed worn or leaking rack addresses deterioration within the assembly. Pump replacement alongside the rack is strongly recommended: circulating swarf can damage either component. Scoring or metal contamination found when an exchange rack is inspected indicates debris within the system, so the pump should also be assessed and replaced as advised.
FAQs
Are tie rods and bellows supplied?
Yes, both are included with this assembly.
Is wheel alignment needed afterwards?
Arrange wheel alignment following installation.
What else should be checked?
Inspect the pump, fluid, pipework, mounts and related joints. Follow the correct flushing and refilling procedure, using the specified fluid.

When should you review or replace your Porsche motorsport & track parts?
Checking motorsport & track components regularly helps you spot wear, stress or age-related deterioration before it affects safety, performance or leads to more expensive repairs later on.
- Existing parts show signs of fatigue, cracking, heat damage or fluid leaks
- You notice inconsistent braking, vague handling or overheating during track sessions
- You change tyre type, power level or aero and need to retune the chassis around it
- You are moving from occasional track days towards more serious or competitive use
If any of these apply, it is a good time to review your motorsport & track setup and replace anything that is past its best so your Porsche stays dependable and rewarding to drive on circuit.
