Wössner are regarded by Europe's leading motor sport engine builders as being the piston of choice when building an engine not only to perform, but to withstand the stresses and duress's of competition life. Wössner pistons feature a unique PTFE coating on the skirts and a grade of 4032 Alloy (T6) which allows the engine builder to run a closer piston to bore tolerance then he might do on another make of piston. This helps remove the slapping noise during cold start, common place among engines running forged pistons due to larger then OE bore clearances. The crowns of the pistons are also polished to better resist detonation on a high performance engine. Polishing allows a more even spread of heat inside the chamber which will help prevent "hot spots" on piston crowns. Price includes all piston rings and gudgeon pins.
Price shown is for complete engine set.

High-Strength Wössner Pistons for Performance, Durability & Precision Engine Rebuilds
Wössner pistons are engineered for drivers who demand exceptional strength, reduced weight and superior thermal stability from their engines. Manufactured from forged aluminium for maximum durability, Wössner pistons are designed to withstand high cylinder pressures, elevated temperatures and aggressive tuning—making them ideal for turbocharged, supercharged, high-compression and track-focused Porsche builds.
Whether rebuilding a road-going performance engine or constructing a high-output motorsport power unit, Wössner pistons offer outstanding reliability, enhanced power delivery and long-term durability.
What Wössner Pistons Do
Wössner pistons improve engine performance and reliability
by:
- Increasing
strength and durability with forged alloy construction
- Enhancing
combustion efficiency through optimised crown shapes
- Reducing
reciprocating mass, improving throttle response
- Supporting
high RPM operation with stronger piston skirts
- Maintaining
consistent sealing via precision-machined ring lands
- Managing
extreme heat loads for turbocharged and high-compression engines
- Reducing friction for smoother and more efficient operation
These pistons are specifically engineered to perform in demanding environments where standard components fall short.
Why Pistons Commonly Fail
Even high-performance engines can suffer piston failure due
to extreme conditions or insufficient servicing. Common causes include:
- Detonation
or pre-ignition damaging ring lands or piston crowns
- Thermal
overload in turbocharged or high-output engines
- Oil
starvation leading to scuffing or seizure
- Incorrect
fuelling or tuning, creating lean combustion
- High
mileage wear, reducing skirt stability
- Contamination
from debris in the lubrication system
- Excessive boost pressure, stressing cast pistons beyond their limits
Symptoms include blow-by, low compression, excessive oil consumption, knocking noises, or visible damage during engine teardown.
Why You Should Replace Your Pistons with Wössner Components
Upgrading to precision-engineered Wössner forged pistons designed to exceed original strength and performance characteristics provides significant benefits for any engine rebuild.
Advantages include:
- Superior durability under high boost or performance driving
- Stronger resistance to detonation and thermal fatigue
- Improved compression retention and sealing efficiency
- Reduced piston mass for enhanced engine response
- Increased lifespan for performance and track applications
- More consistent combustion and power delivery
- Confidence when pushing the engine to its limits
Wössner pistons are a proven choice for rebuilders seeking motorsport-grade reliability and performance.
