Ignition coil. 6 Required per engine. SET OF 6
The 99760210405 is the individual coil module used on the Porsche M96 and M97 M-series engines in many 986/996/987/early 997 cars. Normally should be replaced as a set of six coils (one per cylinder)

Why these coils should be replaced

Age / thermal breakdown: coils are exposed to heat cycles and can develop internal insulation breakdown or hairline cracks in the housing. Over time this causes weak or leaking high voltage and intermittent sparks.

Misfire symptoms: a failing coil will cause single-cylinder misfires (P030x codes), rough idle, reduced power, increased fuel consumption and catalytic converter heating/damage if left. These are the most common reasons owners replace coils.

Carbon tracking / cracking: visible cracks or carbon tracking on the coil boot can provide a leakage path for spark, reducing performance and causing intermittent faults.

Connector / wiring issues: corroded or loose coil connectors can mimic coil failures; inspect connectors when replacing coils.

Common issues reported in practice

One or more cylinders misfire when the engine is hot but behave quite normally when cold (typical of internal coil failure or heat-sensitive cracks). Cracked coil housings on Boxster/996 cars, owners often replace the entire set for reliability. After a spark plug change, misfires appear because weakened coils can fail once higher-voltage plugs are installed; this is a frequently reported pattern.

How to diagnose (practical steps)

Read codes: P0300 / P0301–P0306 point to misfires; note which cylinder is affected.Swap test: swap the suspected coil with another cylinder’s coil — if the misfire follows the coil, the coil is bad. (Common, quick field test used by owners.)Measure resistance: check primary and secondary coil resistances at ~20°C and compare to the ranges above.Visual inspection: look for cracks, carbon tracking, oil ingress, or damaged boots/connectors.Oscilloscope / HV probe: for deeper diagnosis a scope or HV probe can show spark energy, but most DIY diagnostics use swap + resistance checks.

The Plasma Direct is an ignition coil with a built-in high-power amplifier. Plasma Direct Coils produce 4 times more spark energy than stock coils, and generate an ultra-fast multi-spark-discharge of 10 sparks up to highest RPM.

The spark amperage is increased by 100%, allowing the spark to reach many more molecules, which therefore accelerates the ignition and combustion processes. This is extremely important in forced induction applications, but also improves the performance of normally aspirated engines.
The Plasma Direct will increase horsepower and torque throughout the entire RPM range, as well as reducing fuel consumption. Even engines with legendary smoothness will be further refined with the Plasma Direct upgrade. Plasma Direct coils are OBD II compliant.

- 100% secondary current (Spark Amperage) increase.
- 4 times spark energy increase for the initial spark discharge.
- 8% Fuel Saving
- Easy installation.
- Compatible with all OEM components.
- Compatible with OBD-II (On-Board-Diagnostics).

High-quality OE Match double-iridium spark plug engineered to replicate the original Porsche factory spark plug in fit, heat range, and performance. Specifically designed for the demanding combustion environment of the Porsche 997 Turbo and 997 GT2, this plug delivers reliable ignition and long-lasting durability under high thermal and mechanical load.
Sold individually, 6 spark plugs required per engine.

Fits:
Porsche 997 Turbo 3.6L 2007 - 2009 (M97.70)
Porsche 997 GT2 2007 - 2009 (M97.70)
Porsche 997.2 GT2 RS 2011 - 2013

This OE Match double-iridium spark plug features iridium-tipped electrodes on both the centre and ground sides, providing a finer, more durable firing point compared to standard plugs. The double-iridium design enhances spark efficiency, improves wear resistance, and supports stable combustion even under the elevated temperatures and pressures typical of turbocharged engines.

Manufactured to OE-equivalent standards, this spark plug offers precise thread dimensions, optimal electrode geometry, and a specific heat range calibrated for performance engines. It helps maintain smooth idle quality, crisp throttle response, efficient fuel burn, and consistent power delivery - all critical for the high-output Porsche 997 Turbo and GT2 platforms.

Designed as a direct replacement, this spark plug installs without modification and is ideal for routine service, tune-ups, or replacing worn plugs to preserve peak engine performance.

The spark plug delivers a precisely timed electrical spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. The double-iridium construction supports a stable, strong spark and helps maintain efficient combustion over extended use.

Function:
•  Generates reliable ignition for efficient combustion
Double-iridium electrodes improve spark stability and electrode life
Supports smooth idle and responsive acceleration
Helps maintain power delivery and fuel efficiency under boost

Spark plugs degrade over time due to repeated heat cycles, high pressures, and electrical load. On performance engines like the 997 Turbo and GT2, worn or incorrect plugs can lead to misfires, hesitation, reduced power, and uneven combustion. Installing an OE Match double-iridium spark plug ensures dependable ignition performance, extended service life, and preserved driving characteristics aligned with Porsche engineering.

Spark plug, FR6 DPP332 / Z185
The Porsche Genuine OE Spark Plug is an original equipment ignition component designed and manufactured to Porsche’s exact factory specifications for high-performance engines. This OE spark plug (commonly referenced as FR6 DPP 332) delivers reliable, consistent ignition performance exactly as fitted in production.
Sold individually, 6 spark plugs required per engine.

Fits:
Porsche 997 Turbo 3.6L 2007 - 2009 (M97.70)
Porsche 997 GT2 2007 - 2009 (M97.70)
Porsche 997.2 GT2 RS 2011 - 2013

Spark plugs play a vital role in engine combustion by igniting the air-fuel mixture within each cylinder. The OE spark plug produces a stable, timed spark that enables efficient combustion, helping to maximise engine power output, maintain smooth running, and support proper emissions control. Using Porsche-specified plugs ensures that ignition characteristics such as heat range and gap are matched precisely to OEM requirements.

Functions & Technical Role:
Ignition source: Delivers the spark needed for combustion in each cylinder
Optimised combustion: Helps the engine run smoothly across idle, part-throttle, and full-load conditions
OEM heat range & gap: Designed for factory combustion tuning
Maintains performance: Reduces misfires and supports efficient fuel use
Durable construction: Genuine components built to last in high-RPM applications

Over time, spark plugs wear due to electrode erosion and combustion by-product deposits. This wear can lead to misfires, rough idle, throttle hesitation, and reduced fuel economy. Replacing aged plugs restores precise ignition timing and combustion quality - preserving engine efficiency, performance, and reliability at design-intent levels.

When to replace spark plugs:
  At manufacturer-recommended service intervals
  During routine engine tune-ups
If experiencing misfires or unstable idle
  When hard starting occurs
  If fuel economy drops
  During engine rebuilds or diagnostics
