What This Product Does:

  • The hood hinge is the pivotal mounting component between the bonnet (hood) and the car body/fender. It allows the bonnet to swing open and closed while maintaining correct alignment and secure sealing when shut.
  • Properly functioning hinges ensure that the bonnet aligns flush with the surrounding panels, latches correctly, and retains the correct gap and flush finish.
  • They also handle loads when the bonnet is open (holding it in position) and must withstand repeated use, vibration, and corrosion in the front-end environment.

Symptoms & Signs Of Wear / When To Replace:
  • Mis-alignment of the bonnet: e.g., one side sits higher/lower, panel gaps are uneven, the bonnet doesn’t close flush.
  • Loose or sloppy movement: if when opening/closing the bonnet you feel play or the hinge feels worn or creaks.
  • Corrosion, rust or damage on the hinge pivot or mounting points. Older hinges may be fatigued or bent.
  • Difficulty opening or closing: the bonnet may bind, catch, or not move as smoothly as expected (possibly due to hinge wear or deformation).
