Front suspension headlamp levelling sensor.
This Headlight Level Sensor is a replacement electronic sensor engineered to replicate the original Porsche ride height/level sensing component used in the headlight levelling system. It is designed for direct installation in compatible Porsche 911 (991), Boxster (982) and Cayman (982) models to work with automatic headlight levelling systems.

Fits:
Porsche 718 Boxster - 2017 Onwards
Porsche 718 Cayman - 2017 Onwards
Porsche 991.1 / 991.2 - 2012 to 2019
Porsche 991 turbo - 2017 to 2020

The headlight level sensor detects changes in the vehicle’s suspension height and sends accurate position data to the headlight control module. This enables the automatic headlight levelling function, allowing the headlights to adjust their beam angle based on load and vehicle pitch - helping maintain optimal illumination and preventing glare to other road users.

Mounted to the front suspension/ride height linkage, the sensor reads positional changes and converts them into electronic signals. The control module uses this data to raise or lower the headlight beam dynamically, ensuring consistent light alignment regardless of load, acceleration, or inclination. It supports safer night driving by keeping beams properly aligned.

A faulty headlight level sensor can lead to inconsistent beam aim, poor night visibility, dashboard warnings, or disabled levelling functions. Replacing a worn or failed sensor restores correct feedback to the headlight control system, maintaining proper beam alignment and ensuring safe, predictable nighttime lighting performance.

When to replace:
Headlights won’t auto-adjust when load changes
Levelling warning or fault codes on the instrument cluster
Beam angle appears too high or low under load
After suspension work / sensor linkage removal
As preventive maintenance when replacing related sensors or heads

About Electronic Damper Control

Porsche Electronic Damper Control | Design911 Adaptive Suspension Components for Ride Comfort & Performance

Electronic damper control (EDC) is a key part of Porsche’s adaptive suspension system, automatically adjusting damping force in real-time to deliver optimal balance, comfort, and performance. Using advanced sensors and control units, EDC systems continuously adapt to road conditions, driving style, and load, ensuring perfect chassis response. Whether on the road or track, electronic dampers provide unmatched precision, stability, and comfort — maintaining Porsche’s trademark driving dynamics.

At Design911, we offer a comprehensive range of electronic damper control components, including actuators, control modules, valves, and sensors. Each component is designed to integrate seamlessly with your Porsche’s adaptive suspension system, restoring or enhancing performance. Perfect for maintenance, restoration, or upgrades, our EDC components ensure consistent damping accuracy and long-term reliability.

What Does Electronic Damper Control Do?

The electronic damper control system fine-tunes the stiffness of your suspension in real time to suit driving conditions and performance demands.

Core Functions:
• Monitors and adjusts damping force via sensors and actuators.
• Improves ride comfort and steering response.
• Reduces body roll, pitch, and vibration.
• Adapts automatically to speed, terrain, and cornering forces.
• Enhances handling precision and passenger comfort.

In perfect working condition, Porsche’s EDC system ensures the suspension operates with precision, delivering both performance and refinement.

Why Do Electronic Damper Control Components Fail or Degrade?

Due to constant operation and environmental exposure, electronic damping systems can experience electrical, hydraulic, or mechanical wear over time.

Common Causes of Failure Include:
• Damaged or corroded actuator connections.
• Sensor failure due to moisture or vibration.
• Fluid leaks from dampers or control valves.
• Software faults or ECU communication errors.
• Wiring degradation or short circuits.

When EDC components fail, drivers may experience warning lights, inconsistent ride comfort, harsh damping, or unstable handling — making inspection and replacement essential for maintaining safety and performance.

Why Replace or Upgrade Your Porsche Electronic Damper Control Components?

Replacing faulty or worn electronic damper components restores suspension balance, ride comfort, and system reliability. Upgraded parts improve response time, control precision, and overall performance.

Key Benefits:
• Restores adaptive suspension function and comfort.
• Improves handling, stability, and ride quality.
• Eliminates damping inconsistencies and system errors.
• Available for Porsche 911, Panamera, Cayenne, Macan, Boxster, and Cayman models.
