Engine mounts must perform two important functions: securely support the weight and torque reaction of the engine while allowing a controlled amount of movement to prevent excessive vibration from being transmitted into the vehicle body.

During acceleration, deceleration and gear changes, the engine naturally attempts to move within the engine bay.
